I was tired last week. I will admit. On Friday night I fell asleep on the couch at around 7pm, and proceeded to get to bed (eventually) and then continue to sleep until 8 pm. That being said, I am writing my blog of Thursday and Friday, tonight: Sunday, in the last moments of my weekend.
I am so proud to be a part of a school that recognizes that learning is not held solely within the curriculum. We believe that the curriculum given to us is worthwhile, but not comprehensive to the education of the whole person. That is why we have started grade level service projects. This is so that each class can be a blessing to the community at large. Here is a picture of some very excited grade seven students who had the opportunity to plant trees (well shrubs actually) for the benefit of our parks, and ecosystems. About fifty percent of my students had never used a shovel, or dug a whole to plant, so this really was a learning experience for them. Hopefully this plants a seed in their hearts for stewardship and service.
